Ever wondered how the internet is connected all over the world?
so lets find out today
Internet all over the world is connected through wires, these wires are known as submarine wires.
Let's get into more detail about this in this blog.
-the submarine wires
-Who owns these cables?
-Why don't we use satellite rather than wires?
lets begin...
Submarine wires
Our wireless world depends on a few hundred fiber-optic cables laid on the ocean floor. A submarine cable is a fibre optic cable laid in the ocean connecting two or more landing points.
Who is the owner of these cables?
Cables were traditionally owned by telecom carriers, who would form a consortium of all parties interested in using the cable. Now a days companies such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Amazon are major investors in new cable systems.
Why don't we use satellite rather than wires?
Satellites are great for certain applications. Satellites do a wonderful job of reaching areas that aren’t yet wired with fiber. They are also useful for distributing content from one source to multiple locations. However, on a bit-for-bit basis, there’s just no beating fiber-optic cables. Cables can carry far more data at far less cost than satellites.
